The Three C's

A good friend emailed me this story yesterday about the Kelloggs – a family of fourteen living in an RV. Full time. By choice. And if the short video I watched is any indication, they seem to be getting along swimmingly. So much for the "well, that would never work if you had kids" argument that I hear all the time.

What's more, it makes the prospect of having an entire Vanagon to oneself look positively bourgeois. Something for me to keep in mind next time I'm in a dark mood and wondering if it's really such a good idea for one person to live in such a small space.

The Kelloggs live in a 36 foot class A, and if we assume it's about 8 feet wide, that comes to 288 square feet – roughly 20 square feet per person. Heck, I've got them beat just with the area covered by my groovy birch subfloor pictured above. That's 25 spacious square feet right there folks, and an almost obscene 45 square feet from the van's rear all the way up to the back of the driver/passenger seats.

Cavernous! Capacious! Commodious!

    1. Glenn still has the option of adding a stand up roof if he chooses to. Can you imagine the wait for the bathroom? Way too many kids in this world of 7 billion hairless apes.
